The Black Scranton Project took root as a simple research question that quickly blossomed into a long-term archival project and local heritage initiative. This local nonprofit is dedicated to creating spaces that educate, unite, inspire, encourage and bring awareness to the Black history and culture of the Scranton area.

The Black Scranton Project recognizes the contributions of Black residents by collecting a local news archive, maintaining a Black-owned business directory and offering other historical and cultural resources. They promote unity through several arts and history events throughout the year.
