Mission Statement
Our mission is to recruit, train and support community volunteers to serve as the voice of abused and neglected children in the Luzerne and Wyoming County court system so that these children will be safe, secure, and given the opportunity to thrive.
.
CASA of Wyoming Valley (formerly CASA of Luzerne County) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) child advocacy organization dedicated to recruiting, training, and supporting community volunteers to serve as the voice of abused and neglected children in the Luzerne and Wyoming County court system. By providing these children with dedicated advocates, the organization works to ensure their safety, security, and opportunity to thrive.
Established in 2013 as CASA of Luzerne County, the organization expanded in July 2024 to include advocacy for children in Wyoming County, adopting the name CASA of Wyoming Valley. As part of the National CASA Association, it continues to grow with the support and guidance of a nationwide network. Currently, over 1,000 CASA/GAL programs operate across 49 states, training volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children in their communities.
CASA of Wyoming Valley envisions a future where every abused and neglected child in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties has a safe, permanent, and loving home. Research shows that children assigned a CASA volunteer are half as likely to re-enter foster care, spend less time in the system, and perform better in school. Since 2013, over 300 children in the region have been matched with a CASA volunteer, gaining the support and stability they need to succeed.
Becoming a CASA volunteer is a rewarding and flexible way to make a lasting impact on a child’s life. Those interested in making a difference are encouraged to reach out and learn more.
