Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) | Nonprofit supporting victims & saving lives through DUI prevention
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization with a vital presence in Pennsylvania, founded in 1980 by Candace Lightner after the tragic loss of her daughter to a drunk driver. MADD is dedicated to raising awareness about the devastating consequences of impaired driving and offering unwavering support to victims and survivors of drunk and drugged driving crashes. Through prevention, advocacy & personalized assistance, MADD works to make communities safer and help victims heal.
Standing With Victims at Every Step
Victims of impaired driving often feel overwhelmed and alone—but MADD ensures they never have to navigate the aftermath by themselves. The organization provides comprehensive, compassionate services including emotional support, access to support groups, referrals to counselors and trauma specialists, and—where available—court accompaniment for hearings and trials. MADD’s victim services are offered at no cost and are available for as long as survivors need support during their healing journey.
Driving Change Through Education & Advocacy
Beyond victim support, MADD works tirelessly to prevent future tragedies through public education, youth engagement, and legislative advocacy. The organization’s efforts have helped shape DUI laws across the country and continue to save lives by informing drivers, empowering families, and creating safer roadways for everyone.
