The Iron Horse Society is a nonprofit organization based in Scranton, PA, serving as the official friends group of Steamtown National Historic Site (SNHS). Established in 2016, the society is dedicated to railroad preservation, public education & enhancing the overall visitor experience at one of the nation’s premier rail heritage destinations. Through community involvement, fundraising and volunteer engagement, the Iron Horse Society plays a vital role in sustaining and advancing SNHS’s mission.
Fueling Preservation Through Support & Service
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The Iron Horse Society raises funds through grants, sponsorships, events and donations to support key initiatives at SNHS. These efforts help develop exhibits, maintain rolling stock, and introduce new educational programs that spotlight America’s railroad legacy.
