Valley In Motion (VIM), a nonprofit organization based in Mayfield, PA, is dedicated to enhancing health, connection, and civic pride throughout the Lackawanna Valley. As a 501(c)(3) organization, VIM believes that when local quality of life improves, social and economic vitality follow. With a wide-ranging mission focused on public wellness, placemaking, and community enrichment, VIM brings people together across NEPA to build a brighter, more vibrant future for the region.
Blue Zones & Lifelong Wellbeing
One of Valley In Motion’s most ambitious efforts is the creation of local Blue Zones—areas inspired by global longevity hotspots where residents live longer, healthier lives thanks to intentional, community-focused lifestyle choices. Through strategic partnerships and grassroots engagement, VIM promotes these habits, encouraging healthy eating, active living, and social connection in neighborhoods throughout the Valley.
Community Projects That Inspire Pride
VIM is also actively involved in placemaking initiatives that celebrate regional heritage and enhance public spaces. From improving access to the historic Scranton Iron Furnaces to organizing the creation of public murals that reflect local identity, the organization brings art, history, and health together in meaningful, place-based projects. These initiatives don’t just beautify—they also foster belonging and increase community involvement across all ages and backgrounds.
