America250PA prepares for fourth annual Pennsylvania Day initiative in support of Feeding Pennsylvania and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful

America250PA is kicking off their fourth annual Pennsylvania Day initiative this week in celebration of National Pennsylvania Day on July 20. On July 19 and 20, volunteers will be active across the Commonwealth in support of Feeding Pennsylvania and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.

In support of Feeding Pennsylvania, presented by The GIANT Company and Natural Food Group, America250PA will be assisting food banks across the Commonwealth on July 19 to help provide food and grocery items to Pennsylvanians experiencing food insecurity.

This year, volunteers will be at the following locations:

  • Mercer County Food Bank – Myron’s Meal Mobile—Farrell, Mercer County (*This site took place on Thursday, July 18)
  • Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank – Reading, Berks County
  • Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank – Pottsville, Schuylkill County
    HANNA’s Pantry – Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County
  • Central Pennsylvania Food Bank – Harrisburg, Dauphin County
  • Central Pennsylvania Food Bank – Williamsport, Lycoming County
  • Mercer County Food Bank – Myron’s Meal Mobile – Sharon, Mercer County
  • Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank – Duquesne, Allegheny County
  • Philabundance – Philadelphia, Philadelphia County
  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest PA – Erie, Erie County
  • Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania – Nazareth, Northampton County
  • Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank – Pittston, Luzerne County
  • Westmoreland Food Bank – Delmont, Westmoreland County
  • Chester County Food Bank – Chester County
    • Exton Food Bank
    • Coatesville Community Garden at Springton Manor Raised Bed Garden
    • Two Gander Farm
  • York County Food Bank – York, York County
  • The Friendship Table – Bradford, McKean County
  • Central Pennsylvania Community Action Inc. (Philipsburg Food Bank) – Philipsburg, Centre County
  • Manns Choice Food Pantry – Manns Choice, Bedford County
  • Garden of Health – Hatfield, Montgomery County

This year will be the fourth year that America250PA has worked with Feeding Pennsylvania. Last year, nearly 250 PA Day volunteers helped pack over 4,800 boxes and over 22,800 pounds of goods.

On July 20, America250PA will also be supporting Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and assisting with community revitalization projects at the following locations:

  • “Drake Log Cabin Memorial Flower Garden” – Armstrong County
  • “Unity Mural” – Beaver County
  • “Hibbs Garden Clean Up” – Bucks County
  • “Clarion County Park Community Garden Refresh” – Clarion County
  • “Children’s and Kitchen Gardens at Mount Hope: The Baldwin-Reynolds House Museum” – Crawford County
  • “Anniversary Street Mural” – Lawrence County
  • “Medal of Honor Grove Clean-up Day” – Chester County
  • “AAMP Beautification” – Philadelphia County

This will be America250PA’s second year working with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. America250PA and EQT Corporation, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, awarded $19,500 in grant funds to support eight projects that aim to improve communities and engage volunteers.

Last year, over 200 PA Day volunteers assisted with building flower beds, preserving historical headstones, collecting trash, refurbishing park structures, and much more.
