Coal Cracker Christmas | Veterans Memorial Park, Shenandoah
Friday, November 28, 2025 | 5:45–8:00 PM
Coal Cracker Christmas at Veterans Memorial Park in Shenandoah takes place on Friday, November 28, 2025, from 5:45 to 8:00 PM, bringing the community together for a free, family-friendly outdoor holiday celebration. The event begins outside the DSI offices at 116 N. Main Street, so guests are encouraged to dress warmly.
The evening kicks off at 5:45 PM with a Dickens-inspired Christmas play presented by the Shenandoah Valley High School Drama Club. Visitors can gather around, sing along with the cast, and enjoy the lighting of the community Christmas tree.
After the tree lighting, guests are invited to the Damato Post to enjoy cookies and hot beverages sponsored by Mid Penn Bank and Lyric Restaurant, with candy canes provided by Shenandoah Recreation. It’s a cozy way to warm up between activities.
From 6:00 to 8:00 PM, families can take a ride on a horse-drawn trolley with Leiby’s Carriage Service, sponsored by Shenandoah One Stop and Ringtown One Stop. The trolley rides are a seasonal favorite and add a nostalgic touch to the evening.
Children are encouraged to bring their letters for Santa’s Magical Mailbox, sponsored by Mrs. T’s Pierogies. The mailbox will remain in Veterans Memorial Park until Christmas, giving families plenty of time to drop off wish lists destined for the North Pole.
Guests can also stop by the Shenandoah Ambulance Garage on North Main Street to see a special vintage train collection sponsored by the Fire Police, with a possible visit from Santa himself. With lights, music, treats, and classic holiday activities, Coal Cracker Christmas offers something for everyone.
