Glassworker’s House Opening – Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary, White Mills

Last Sunday of Each Month | May–October | 1:00 PM–5:00 PM

Step back in time with the Glassworker’s House Opening at the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary in White Mills, held the last Sunday of each month from May through October between 1:00 and 5:00 PM.

Visitors are invited to tour an original 19th-century Glassworker’s House, one of the first seven homes built in 1867 by Christian Dorflinger for his nearby glass factory workers. Restored to reflect its 1875 appearance, the home showcases historical details such as board-and-batten walls, enclosed porches, and period siding—offering a rare glimpse into the daily lives of early industrial artisans and their families.

The event provides a fascinating perspective on local history and the role White Mills played in American glassmaking heritage.
