On September 14th from 9 am to 2 pm, the Harford Historical Society will hold a community event to display local historical exhibits and to promote local authors who will give book signings at the Soldiers’ Orphan School, 2238 Orphan School Road, Kingsley, Pa. This event is held inside the original Franklin Academy building (1836-1865) which became part of a school for children orphaned during the Civil War. Historical exhibits will be on display in the museum, courtesy of the Historical Society, and a Civil War enactor (Brian Schwartz) will be available to give more information on the war.
A used book sale will coincide with this event. All books are donated to the historical society and include current novels, children’s books, history books, and coffee table travel books. Hardcovers – 50 cents and Paperbacks – 25 cents, cash only.
Everyone is invited to bring their own picnic lunch, to sit in our pavilion and enjoy the quiet, beautiful setting of the Soldiers’ Orphan School grounds.
