In recognition of Anthracite Heritage month, the West Pittston Historical Society is presenting “Local Anthracite Mining in the 21st Century.” Contrary to what many believe, there is still ongoing anthracite mining happening in our area today. Mining engineer, Justin Emershaw from the Hazleton based Atlantic Carbon Group will speak on modern day anthracite mining and how it has evolved from the old historic images we are familiar with.

The program will be held at the West Pittston Library, Exeter Ave., on Tuesday Jan. 28, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.
