Saturday, March 21, 2026 | 7:00 PM
NEPACMS Presents: “Sound Shapes” at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wilkes-Barre takes place on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 7:00 PM, offering a chamber program that explores musical form through flowing lines, striking contrasts, and elegant symmetry. Anchored by the clarinet’s warm, resonant voice, the concert moves from seamless continuity to modern tension and back to a deeply satisfying sense of return.
The program opens with York Bowen’s Phantasy Quintet, Op. 93, shaped as a single, continuous arc. Christopher Cerrone’s Nervous Systems follows, finding symmetry in the interplay between rugged modernist structures and sea-like rhythmic motion. The evening culminates with Johannes Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet, Op. 115, a masterwork whose final moments echo back to the piece’s opening.
Featured artists include Calvin Falwell (clarinet), John Vaida (violin), Arthur Moeller (violin), Amy Iwazumi (viola), and Bryan Hayslett (cello). Tickets are $20 general admission, with $15 tickets for seniors and students.
