Experience the captivating world of nocturnal birds during the Owl Prowl: Guided Night Hike at Lehman Sanctuary on June 20 at 8:00 PM! This unique event is led by John Levitsky, Watershed Specialist with the Luzerne Conservation District, and is designed for anyone interested in learning about owls and their fascinating behaviors.

John will kick off the evening with a brief introduction to owl biology, providing insights into the characteristics that make these birds such remarkable nighttime hunters. Afterward, he will guide the group through the Sanctuary’s darkened trails, demonstrating various owl calls and explaining their significance. You’ll have the chance to hear—and with any luck, see—barred owls, screech owls, and great horned owls. Whether you’re a seasoned birdwatcher or just curious about owls, this event is sure to be an unforgettable experience under the night sky.

This hike will be held outdoors and may be rescheduled in the event of heavy storms. Make sure to wear treaded shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. This event is suitable for ages 12 and older.

Portion of proceeds benefit Lehman Sanctuary, a nonprofit designated for environmental education located in Luzerne county. The 18-acre sanctuary is home to old growth forested wetlands, natural Prairie Grass and wildflowers meadow and a thriving wildlife habitat.
