Join the Reading & Northern Railroad for a spectacular train excursion to historic Jim Thorpe! Your excursion will depart from the new Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Regional Railroad Station at Pittston! The journey between these two historical locations is full of beautiful scenery and amazing views as you climb out of the Wyoming Valley and up and over the rugged Penobscot Mountain! Once over the summit, the route will lead you into the majestic Lehigh Gorge before your arrival in Jim Thorpe!

Passengers will ride in comfort aboard the newly restored Crown Class Coaches featuring large reclining fabric seats, clean restrooms, and windows that open and close. Guests can also spend time in the dining car, where snacks and beverages will be available for cash purchase. Looking for a shorter excursion closer to your home? They also offer two additional boarding locations at Penobscot Station (Mountain Top) and White Haven Station.

Their First-Class Lounge Observation Car #7, the King Coal, is now available on all regular-season Pittston to Jim Thorpe excursions. This car is only available for boarding at Pittston, and features plush armchairs at either end and restaurant-style booth seating as well as a wood-paneled snack bar situated in the middle of the coach. Passengers riding in this car will receive a complimentary snack and beverage during the trip.
