Sunday, October 26, 2025 | 10 AM
Welcome to the Flock Bird Hike at Kurmes Nature Preserve in Cresco takes place Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 10 AM. This family-friendly birdwatching adventure invites both beginners and experienced birders to explore the local landscape and meet the feathered residents of the Poconos.
Led by naturalists Jackie and Darryl Speicher, the relaxed hike offers an engaging introduction to spotting and identifying birds that call the region home. Participants will learn which species stay through winter, which ones migrate, and how to recognize their songs and behaviors.
No equipment? No problem! Thanks to a generous donation to the avian research program, several professional-grade binoculars and scopes will be available for use. Just bring your curiosity, a camera, and a sense of adventure.
This series of hikes takes place at various preserves throughout the region—each with unique wildlife to discover. Whether you attend one or all, you’ll gain new insights into the vibrant birdlife of northeastern Pennsylvania.
