Winter Solstice Light Hike | Hickory Run State Park, White Haven

Sunday, December 21, 2025 | Arrive anytime between 4:30–7:30 PM for a 1-mile illuminated walk

Winter Solstice Light Hike at Hickory Run State Park in White Haven takes place on Sunday, December 21, 2025, with participants invited to arrive any time between 4:30 and 7:30 PM for a self-guided illuminated walk. This gentle evening outing marks the shortest day of the year with a mile-long, mostly flat loop around the Sand Spring Day Use Area.

Guests will sign in at the pavilion before following the glow of 300+ lanterns along the route around the lake and back. The trail is designed to be easy and family-friendly, offering a peaceful way to welcome winter and enjoy the quiet beauty of the park at dusk.

After the walk, visitors can return to the pavilion to warm up by the fire and roast a s’more. It’s a relaxed, come-and-go experience, so you can set your own pace and spend as much time as you’d like enjoying the lights and the atmosphere.

This program is free, and registration is not required, making it an easy addition to your seasonal plans.
