On Monday, November 4 at 5:30 P.M. everyone ages 10 and older is invited to come to the Library’s Zine Scene program. Collagist, zinester, and teaching artist Kris K will be presenting “Zine Scene: Minizines,” a workshop for anyone looking for a fun and accessible creative outlet that’s low-prep and promotes literacy and self-expression. Zines are self-created booklets that are usually copied and distributed in small quantities, and can be about anything you want, silly or serious! You’ll learn some of the history of this easy way to self-publish your own art, photography, comics, poetry, stories, opinions, rants or thoughts. We’ll also peruse numerous examples of zines, and then get hands-on and break out the paper, markers, scissors and glue to make our own 8-page minizine out of just one sheet of paper. Participants will come away with a finished minizine and copies to share or trade with their friends.
Registration is required for this one time event. Register online at https://lclshome.org/event/zine-scene/
