Currently home to LSEO, this historic building was constructed in a remarkably swift ninety-day period during the winter of 1908 to serve as the headquarters for the Lehigh and Wilkes-Barre Coal Company. The building’s grand Neoclassical Revival design, highlighted by imposing granite columns, reflects the significant role that the coal industry once played in shaping the economic and cultural fabric of Wilkes-Barre.

Completed and dedicated in 1909, the structure stands as a symbol of the city’s industrial past, particularly the coal companies that were the driving force behind its development. The building’s architecture, with its classical elements and monumental presence, embodies the strength and prosperity of the coal era in the early 20th century.
