Weckesser Hall, constructed between 1914 and 1916, was commissioned by Frederick J. Weckesser, a philanthropist and vice president of the Wilkes College Board of Trustees. Designed by architect Charles P. H. Gilbert, known for his work on Frank W. Woolworth’s house, the building exemplifies the popular Beaux-Arts architectural style of the time. It is one of the few surviving examples of this style in Wilkes-Barre.

In 1956, Wilkes College acquired the building after Mr. Weckesser’s passing, and it became a central location for administrative meetings. Today, it continues to serve as an administrative hub for Wilkes University. The garage on the property, known as Weckesser Annex, houses classrooms with offices above.
