Get In On America's Latest Recreational Craze
The start of a new year often coincides with resolutions, new routines and those same half-serious promises to be more active. And let’s face facts – sometimes exercise is boring. Enter pickleball — the perfect, multi-player sport that’s all at once easy, exhausting (in a good way) and tons of fun.
In recent years, pickleball, a nearly 60-year-old paddle sport, has been gaining impressive traction as America’s latest recreational craze. And now the popular sport has taken hold in NEPA. Recently, outdoor and indoor pickleball courts have been popping up all over the region.
The sport, played one-on-one or in doubles, involves light paddles, a hollow plastic ball, and a net. It is often described as a mixture of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. Pickleball is fairly easy to learn, and players of all experiences are welcomed to join in on the fun. And with flexibility as both an outdoor and indoor sport, it makes for a perfect year-round hobby.
To help you finally keep that “new year, new you” promise, we’ve rounded up some indoor pickleball courts throughout NEPA. Grab a friend. Grab your gear. And get moving with this fun recreational sport.
