The Adopt a Single Mom (AASM) Project fills a unique niche of serving the single women in our region who work and are raising children.  Those “single moms” include grandmothers, solo foster moms, and numerous other arrangements.

They know wholeheartedly that when they support and fulfill the needs of ‘mom’ by helping fill the gaps typical to single moms who work, she is prepared and better equipped for work-life-parenting. This has multi-generational benefits as well as broad benefits to our community.

Their mission is to create a movement providing direct support to empower working single moms of NEPA and beyond filling the gaps with a network of sustainable resources and support to enhance their quality of life so they can be the best version of themselves to thrive as moms and women of our community.

The Adopt a Single Mom (AASM) Project is a multi-faceted support and lifestyle organization that supports and empowers working single moms in NEPA. They do this with advocacy, providing community, resources, and knowledge to elevate her lifestyle and help her thrive as a mom, woman, and member of the community.

The groups largest philanthropic initiative of the year is their Christmas gift drive. Not your typical gift drive: they are gifting mom; not her children. This is the founding of the organization when founder, Donna Nelson, a single parent, decided she wanted to honor other single moms with gifts at Christmas so she had presents to open on Christmas morning with her children.

The organization serves working single moms in Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Wayne, Susquehanna, Wyoming, and Luzerne counties.
