The mission of the Boy Scouts of America Northeastern Pennsylvania Council is to help young people make ethical choices over the course of their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Boy Scouts of America Northeastern Pennsylvania Council in Moosic is a nonprofit organization serving nearly 6,500 youth and adult volunteers across Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne, Wyoming and parts of Susquehanna and Pike counties. Dedicated to building character, leadership and citizenship, the Council offers outdoor experiences, skill development and values-based programs for young people throughout the region.
Regional Reach & Local Impact
Headquartered between Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, the Council supports a wide network of local troops and volunteer leaders. Its programming combines community service, hands-on learning and teamwork, helping young Scouts grow into confident, responsible individuals prepared to lead in their communities.
Year-Round Outdoor Adventures
The Council operates two premier camp properties: Goose Pond Scout Reservation near Hamlin and Camp Acahela in Blakeslee. Both camps host summer camps and year-round activities, offering hiking, swimming, camping and leadership training in inspiring outdoor settings. These properties serve as the heart of the Council’s mission to foster personal growth through adventure and challenge.
