Eastern Monroe Public Library in Stroudsburg is a nonprofit public resource offering materials, programs and services for Monroe County residents. With over a century of service, the library continues to promote education, literacy and community connection across all age groups. Its main Hughes branch features welcoming spaces, a children’s library, study rooms and a café.
Extensive Materials & Digital Access
EMPL offers thousands of books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and other lending materials, plus a wide range of digital content. Visitors can access eBooks, databases and learning tools from home or onsite. The library’s local history and genealogy room preserves newspapers, photos and records specific to Monroe County, supporting both casual research and academic projects.
Programs, Events & Outreach
Free public programs include classes, cultural events and educational sessions for children, teens and adults. The library system also includes the Pocono Township Branch in Tannersville, the Smithfields Branch in East Stroudsburg and a community Bookmobile. These locations ensure that services remain accessible throughout the county.
