Katie’s Place Clubhouse in Scranton is a community of individuals living with mental illness who build meaningful relationships and vocational skills through performing all tasks required to keep the Clubhouse running. Members are involved in such tasks as cooking, cleaning, maintenance, gardening, reception, clerical work, fundraising, billing and a host of other tasks. Members can then participate in the Transitional Employment Program through Katie’s Place Clubhouse, where they gain the confidence of entering or re-entering the workforce. This is predicated on the belief that building meaningful relationships and vocational skills help members find opportunity and hope in their recovery from mental illness.
