In support of the upcoming Carbondalien Festival in the Pioneer City this fall, volunteers are planning an out-of-this-world fundraiser on Saturday, May 4, 6-9pm at The Cashew Lounge, 134 Cottage Street, Carbondale.

Enjoy a sci-fi-themed menu and a cash bar with intergalactic cocktails and mocktails. Open to Carbondaliens and their friends age 21 and older, the event features a costume contest, live music by DJ Mike, and games of chance. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. The ticket price includes hors d’oeuvres and one raffle ticket for a chance to win an extraterrestrial prize. All proceeds benefit the Carbondalien Festival, a project of the Carbondale Arts Alliance in partnership with Scranton Area Community Foundation.

The Carbondalian Festival will be held on November 8 and 9 in Downtown Carbondale and nearby Russell Park to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the curious happenings in the area on November 9, 1974. Organizers expect the event to boost tourism and increase traffic into local shops and restaurants as sci-fi fans and UFO enthusiasts travel from near and far, far away to explore the city’s phenomenal history.
