Expect Superior Musical Acts and Live Theater Through December

During 2023, we’ve hosted some amazing talents at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts but that doesn’t mean we’re taking a break during the last three months of the year! It’s quite the opposite, because in the next 10 weeks, we’re welcoming extremely talented musical acts, hosting a wonderfully strange movie night, and throwing the biggest New Year’s Eve party in NEPA.

Lake Street Dive

Tuesday, October 24 at 7 p.m.

We’re honored to serve as the first stop on Lake Street Dive’s Gather Round Sounds tour, a collection of dates that’ll see the group play laid back, semi-acoustic sets after special guest Monica Martin serenades the Kirby Center crowd. Since starting in 2004, Lake Street Dive have built a catalog of beloved originals while breathing new life into a curated collection of covers. Don’t miss their fall tour kickoff

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Sunday, October 29 at 8 p.m.

It’s been a while since we’ve done the time warp at the Kirby Center, but we’re back and we’re bringing Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre along for the strange trip! Join us Halloween weekend for a screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show, with Little Theatre providing shadowplay. Costumes are encouraged and prop bags will be available for only $5 so you can participate in all the iconic moments of crowd interaction.

Mariachi Herencia de México

Wednesday, November 1 at 7 p.m.

Celebrate the Day of the Dead with Mariachi Herencia de México, a traditional mariachi group keeping the historic cultural art alive while introducing it to a new generation of music lovers. The performance is part of the Geisinger Signature Series, an annual schedule of $10-per-ticket events also supported by media partner WNEP. Join us for an educational and entertaining night of mariachi!

At 10 a.m. November 1, there will be a special performance as part of our Laux Young People’s Theater Series. Educators can call 570-826-1100 to register their students for our YPTS events.

Almost Queen

Saturday, November 25 at 8 p.m.

Thanksgiving have you feeling under pressure? Saturday night’s alright for relaxing, and we’re the perfect place to wind down and let loose.

See acclaimed tribute acts Almost Queen and Philadelphia Freedom as they perform hit after hit from Queen and Elton John. Don’t miss out on two acts beloved by the Kirby Center crowd. We think you’ll agree they’re a rockin’ good time.

The Temptations and the Four Tops

Tuesday, December 5 at 8 p.m.

The musical legacy of Motown can still be heard in today’s R&B hits, but that doesn’t mean the genre’s trailblazers are content to be part of history. Two of Motown’s biggest hitmakers, The Temptations and the Four Tops, are still hitting the road and performing songs like “My Girl” and “Baby I Need Your Loving” for thousands of fans. Whether you gift tickets to a loved one or attend to witness the magic yourself, this one should be marked on your calendar.

Cabinet

Sunday, December 31 at 8:30 p.m.

Speaking of calendars, wrap up your 2023 with one of NEPA’s own: Cabinet! If you were at their New Year’s Eve show in 2017, you know it was something special. Cabinet’s unique brand of folksy roots rock intertwines classic American soundscapes with the hauntingly psychedelic influence that can be found in some classic rock and bluegrass. It all comes together to form something new yet familiar. A perfect soundtrack for ushering in a new year.

Don’t miss out this year when the biggest NYE party in NEPA returns to the Kirby Center. Grab your friends and finish the year off right!
