Follow the Old Railroad

The Endless Mountains Trail is a 10-mile recreational trail that stretches from Montrose to Alford. This historic trail was originally a branch of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western railroad. Today, it’s open to hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing.

The trail starts on Locust Street in Montrose and crosses over Grow Avenue near the Montrose Country Club. The trail continues parallel to PA-706 to Heart Lake, crosses Rose Road, and turns south along the active railroad bed toward Alford.

The Rail-Trail Council of NEPA is currently working on restoring the trail. Some sections may be rough, and a mountain bike is required.
