Honoring Hazleton’s Heritage

The Greater Hazleton Historical Society and Museum is a nonprofit that keeps the area’s history alive. They preserve the cultural, industrial, and architectural heritage of Hazleton with their educational events and exhibits.

The museum itself is a piece of local history. The building was formerly the Pioneer Fire Company and the Hazleton Borough Building. Today, it contains three stories full of exhibits and artifacts. The museum also hosts educational programs, open house events, and walking tours. Please contact the museum to schedule a tour or learn more about events.

The Greater Hazleton Historical Society and Museum is also trying to revitalize the Church Street neighborhood. This 50-block area contains over 400 structures, including historic homes and churches.

Call or check online for hours and events. Tours are by appointment only. Please call a week in advance to schedule.
