McDade Park – more than a city park.
This local favorite on Scranton’s west side features 180 acres of clean, recreational space for city residents to enjoy all year long.
In the summer, local kids run, jump and play in the state-of-the-art playground and swim in the Olympic-sized pool. They can try their luck in the fishing pond or foster their natural curiosity in the butterfly garden.
The park also features paved walking paths, basketball, tennis and bocce ball courts, a softball field, two pavilions and picnic areas with charcoal grills.
When the weather isn’t cooperating, head inside the Anthracite Heritage Museum or the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour, both located on the far west end of the park.
McDade’s playground also features 2 quiet areas designed specifically for children on the autism spectrum and wheelchair accessible swings and slides.
And when the temperature drops and the snow falls, grab your snowsuit because McDade Park becomes a sledding paradise.
