Nescopeck State Park in Drums spans 3,550 acres of forests, wetlands and mountain views between Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton. This popular destination offers trout fishing, hiking, kayaking and outdoor recreation all year long. One of 18 state parks in NEPA, it’s also home to environmental programs, peaceful trails and a wide range of native wildlife.
Scenic Walking Trails for All Seasons
The park features over 19 miles of scenic walking trails, including the family-friendly Creekside and Lake Trails. These level paths are perfect for hikers of all ages and offer peaceful views of wetlands, woodlands and Nescopeck Creek. In fall, the park becomes a favorite for leaf peeping and crisp autumn hikes. In winter, trails open to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, offering a full slate of seasonal fun.
Fishing, Kayaking & Wildlife Viewing
Lake Frances and Nescopeck Creek are both well-known fishing spots, especially during trout season. Anglers also catch bass and panfish. Paddlers can kayak on Lake Frances or watch for native birds and wildlife along the shore. Dogs are welcome throughout the trail system.
