Classic Italian Cooking Since 1963

Nikki’s at the Ben-Mar is a historic, third-generation restaurant that’s been a staple in Carbondale for decades. The Ben-Mar’s founders, Benedetta and Marino Zazzera, Sr., opened in 1963 featuring Italian specialties in the former D&H Canal Company office building. The original structure was used by D&H from 1927 to 1960 as the Penn Division headquarters.

Today, this family-owned restaurant still proudly uses the same original, homemade recipes. Authenic Italian cooking remains their specialty, including an excellent selection of chicken, veal, and pasta dishes. Nikki’s at the Ben-Mar also serves seafood, steaks, burgers, sandwiches, and more. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available.

Reservations are highly recommended, but not required. Catering services and private event space are also available.

Menu Highlights

Try traditional Italian dishes like the homemade lasagna or the hand-breaded chicken parmigiana. Seafood like Nikki’s pan-seared crab cakes or steaks like the center cut beef tenderloin make the perfect dinner.
