Promised Land State Park is overflowing with abundant wildlife and a rich history.
Open year-round, Promised Land State Park offers six unique camping areas featuring a sand beach, swimming area, playground, volleyball court, and picnic areas. Park events include arts and crafts, wildlife talks, kids’ camps, and fishing and kayaking lessons.
Visit the park to see its greatest treasure: a pair of bald eagles. The eagles nest in the park each year, and visitors can view them from the observation station. Birdwatchers will also spot several species in the forests. The National Audubon Society recognizes the park as a vital habitat for birds.
The Masker Museum showcases the park’s history. It features a display on the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC). During the Great Depression, CCC workers built roads, buildings, and a dam on the park lands. Additionally, geocaching tours lead visitors through the park and describe the CCC’s impact.
