Connecting the Community with Nature

Discover the great outdoors at West End Regional Park in Brodheadsville. With over 7 miles of trails, this expansive park provides trails for all levels of walkers, hikers, and mountain bikers. The trails are open year-round from sunrise to sunset.

A ¾-mile, all-inclusive Fitness Trail is located at the entrance at 578 Evergreen Hollow Road. At the trailhead is an outdoor Life Trail system designed for older adults. Along the trail, there are WorldTrail Fitness stations, which provide a comprehensive fitness program for beginners and advanced users alike.

The park has also partnered with the Western Pocono Community Library for a Story Walk with laminated children’s book pages along some of the trails. Families can take in the artistry of nature and follow along with the story while taking a healthy walk together.

The West End Regional Park also features a dog park at the entrance at 3551 Merwine Hilltop Drive. The park features separate play areas for both big and small dogs. No membership is required, but owners are responsible and liable for their actions and behavior of their dogs. The dog park is open seven days a week from dawn till dusk.

The West End Park & Open Space Commission sponsors activities for children and adults, such as archery for all ages, astronomy presentations, crafting programs, “walk with the doc,” holiday events, summer concerts, nature seminars, bird counts, volunteer cleanups, and so much more. Each fall, the Regional Park also hosts a Mountain Bike Jamboree. Beginners have the opportunity to learn biking skills from experienced riders every Friday evening during the season.

About the West End Park & Open Space Commission

West End Park & Open Space Commission was created in September of 2006 by an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement amongst Ross and Chestnuthill Townships along with the Pleasant Valley School District. The commission provides for the funding, planning, development, operation, maintenance, and programming for the West End Regional Park.

This initiative represents an innovative, long-term effort by these public bodies to provide the resources and support the development and operation of parks that will host activates from across the region.  This partnership enables the municipalities to provide more recreational opportunities, preserve land, and improve the quality of life of local residents.
