A Piece of Pottsville’s History
The Yuengling Bicentennial Park & Gardens is a historic city park in Pottsville. The park is home to a spring, which became the city’s first water supply for the public in 1863. In 1877, D.G. Yuengling and Sons secured the spring for a water supply to produce beer. The land remained in the family until Richard “Dick” Yuengling, Jr., donated the springhouse and land to the city in 2002.
Today, the park honors the bicentennial of Pottsville, which was celebrated in 2006. It spans an entire city block at the intersection of South 11th Street and Mahantongo Street. The park features gazebos, a springhouse, and walking paths through the gardens.
