Recapping a Year of Local Stories and Local Fun in NEPA
Before we tackle all the new adventures 2022 has to offer, let’s take a quick look at what kept bringing you back to DiscoverNEPA in 2021.
Here we go, jumping into 2022 with the age-old optimism that greets us at the start of every new year. Alongside it, of course, we welcome the promise of new opportunity, new adventure, new leaves to overturn. And don’t worry, DiscoverNEPA will be there every step of the way.
We’ve got big plans for this year. Of course, we’ll still bring you awesome local stories, thoughtfully curated videos, the region’s most comprehensive events calendar, thousands of things to do, amazing places to eat and plenty of cool sights to see. But we’re also going to hit those trails and swing by our incredible state and local parks. If the snow flies, we’ll be shredding down the slopes. When the weather breaks, we’ll be paddling down the river. You’ll find us at festivals, in downtown shops and cafes, at concerts and anywhere there’s pizza.
Basically, we’re going to keep doing what we’ve always done. If something needs discovering, we’ll discover it. And if there’s a story to tell, we’ll tell it. But we’ll never be able to do it without you. Keep following. Keep liking and sharing. And, let’s continue to rediscover home together.
We love you, NEPA. And here’s a little peek at what you loved about us in 2021.
In 2021, we basically made up for a lost summer by doing everything we possibly could… outside… all the time. And if it involved sunshine, bathing suits, sunscreen and jumping in a pool/lake/creek, you better believe we were all about it.
Before we even published this particular piece, we knew we had a winner on our hands. Thanks to Mattia at Lucca Fresca and all of the “Harries” all over the country who liked, shared and obsessed over NEPA’s little homage to the Brit Pop phenom.
We definitely got your attention with this perennial summer favorite. Of course, it’s all about ice cream – the sweet gooey glue that bonds us to memories of flip flops, swimmin’ holes, Little League and careless, sunny days.
This one always manages to make it back onto the list. I guess you love beer, NEPA. And, if that’s the case, stay tuned. We’ve got plenty more breweries to visit, beers to sample and craft brew road trips to inspire.
Typically, the tail end of summer leaves little cause for celebration. That is, until we drop the dime on all of NEPA’s awesome county fairs. Soon, you were all back to dreaming of funnel cakes, birch beer, carnival rides and games, and all was right again.
A big part of what we do is shine a spotlight on all things cool in and around NEPA. And this unique, self-guided walking tour of the Diamond City’s charming and historic downtown was no exception. Who knew a little local history could be so fun?
Sure, there are trails upon trails all over NEPA – each one just as beautiful and scenic as the next. But when you add a few waterfalls into the mix, you’ve ascended to a separate plane of Instagram-worthy awesomeness. You’re welcome, NEPA.
We can always count on our Why NEPA? interview series to inspire quite a few likes. But this one, featuring the young owners of Honesdale’s hottest new restaurant – we’ll just say it set the bar at new levels of high.
Obviously, when we’re talking about the holidays, we’re going to get your attention. Then, when we talk about our insane, 12 Days of NEPA Holiday Giveaways, you’re liking, following and sharing like seasoned social media pros.
Thanks to NEPA’s resourceful restauranteurs, we continued our outside dining endeavors all winter long. They kept the space heaters humming, the comfy igloos zipped up and the delicious local food coming. And, thanks to this post, you knew just where to find them.
