Pocono Family YMCA | 100+ years of wellness, youth programs & community service in Stroudsburg
The Pocono Family YMCA in Stroudsburg has been a cornerstone of community health and well-being in the Pocono Mountains since its founding in 1914. Originally established as the “Young Men’s Christian Association of the Historic Stroudsburgs,” the organization has evolved to reflect and serve the diverse needs of Monroe County. With nearly 7,000 annual members and participants, the Y remains one of the county’s leading human services organizations, offering inclusive programs for all ages and abilities.
Expanding Wellness & Youth Development
Today, the YMCA provides a wide range of programs including full-time and school-age child care, swim lessons, lifeguard training, youth and adult sports, fitness classes and senior wellness programs. Specialized offerings such as CPR, arthritis-friendly exercise and special needs programming ensure access to health and safety resources for everyone. With services offered both at its Main Street facility and satellite locations, the Y is also expanding into western Monroe County to meet growing demand.
A Facility Built on Community Support
The Y’s current building reflects more than a century of community investment and growth. From the original 1916 opening to modern renovations like a cardio suite and Learning & Caring Center, the facility has evolved to meet changing needs. It houses aquatics, fitness, child care and educational services all under one roof, making it a true hub for family engagement and lifelong wellness.
The Pocono Family YMCA promotes health, connection and service for individuals and families throughout Monroe County and beyond.
