National Wear Red Day® Calls Women to “Reclaim Your Rhythm” in NEPA
American Heart Association

Since 1924, the American Heart Association has been fighting heart disease and stroke and helping people to live longer, healthier lives. Our local AHA shares ways that you can stay healthy, get involved and help raise awareness right here in NEPA.

Help Raise Awareness for Heart Disease & Stroke on February 4, 2022

February is American Heart Month, and every year, the nation comes together on the first Friday of the month, igniting a wave of red from coast to coast. From landmarks to online communities, neighborhoods to news anchors, this annual awareness day unites millions of people for a common goal: the eradication of heart disease and stroke. Everyone can participate and help us in the fight against heart disease in women and men by turning our community red.

Go Red for Women is helping women “reclaim their rhythm” by promoting easy opportunities to build healthy habits for a longer life. Cardiovascular disease remains the greatest health threat for women, killing one out of every three women. Experts say the effects of COVID-19 are likely to influence cardiovascular health and mortality rates for many years, directly and indirectly, physically and emotionally.

On Friday, February 4th, wear your red and join us on this fun and powerful day.  Whether it’s your favorite shade of red lipstick, a dress, shoes, a scarf or even a bow tie for your furry friends, share it with us on social media @AHAPennsylvania or use #NEPAGoRed.

Through the Go Red for Women movement, the American Heart Association encourages people to take action during the month of February by:

  • Making a donation to support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association in the NEPA community by visiting our website.
  • Visiting CVS Health and making a donation at the register. Donations can also be made online.
  • Glow your building or home red and share a photo on social media.
  • Joining the conversation by using #NEPAGoRed, #WearRedDay and #HeartMonth on social media.
