Tour this National Historic Landmark and Tag Along for our Government Meet-and-Greets

We boarded a full bus with the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, local business leaders and constituents from Senate District 29 to tour the beautiful Pennsylvania State Capitol Building and meet with Senator David G. Argall. The spring day couldn’t have been lovelier, with bright blue skies and mid-70s temps for the 90-minute trip to Harrisburg.

Our agenda included question and answer sessions with a number of elected officials and representatives from Governor Josh Shapiro’s administration beginning with 116th District Representative Dane Watro followed by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll and Executive Deputy Secretary Michael Hanna from the Department of Community and Economic Development.

After lunch in the stately Hearing Room, we gathered in the House of Representatives Chamber where we were introduced by Senator Argall alongside other attendees present that day. Finally, we were treated to a tour of the majestic Capitol. If you’ve never had an opportunity to visit this stunning architectural treasure, we highly suggest you make the short trip.

From the spectacular 272-foot, 52 million-pound dome inspired by Michelangelo’s design for St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome to the regal rotunda featuring the grand staircase and three-tiered gallery, replicas of the Paris Opera house, to the opulent Senate Chamber full of historically significant artifacts including marble imported from Ireland and mahogany desks imported from Belize that date back to the Capitol’s 1906 opening, we were in awe of the beautify of it all.

Take a tour of the Capitol with us and get a peak inside the home of Pennsylvania’s Government.
