Discover Ruins Hidden in the Forest

Located within State Game Lands 221 in Cresco, Devil’s Hole Trail is as mysterious as the name suggests. The trail leads along Devil’s Hole Creek, which boasts beautiful waterfalls. Make your way through the thick rhododendron bushes and dense forests. You’ll eventually come to the crumbling walls and ornate fireplaces at Devil’s Hole Ruins. No one knows the story behind the ruins, but local legends suggest that it could have been a speakeasy, an old ski lodge, or an abandoned home.

Devil’s Hole Trail is a 3.1-mile out and back trail. It is moderately difficult and unmarked. The trail crosses the creek multiple times, so wear shoes that can get wet.

Parking is available in the State Game Lands lot off of Devil’s Hole Road.
