Exploring the Trails at the Bear Creek Preserve
One of the greatest advantages of living in Northeastern PA is the abundance of amazing places to hike. And the Bear Creek Preserve is no exception. Owned and protected by Natural Lands, it’s a haven for novice and avid hikers alike. And with its diverse network of trails, we know that coming here will never get old.
During our two most recent visits, we decided to explore the green and yellow loops in the Shades Creek trail system. Both trails were extremely well-marked and beautifully maintained. The green loop trail led to a small stream with cascading waterfalls while the yellow loop led us to the scenic overlook.
On the hike, we heard a variety of songbirds and even got to snap a picture of a Black-throated Blue Warbler before it disappeared into the canopy. It was a reminder that the Preserve isn’t just a haven for hikers but for wildlife as well.
Our time spent at the Bear Creek Preserve was nothing short of amazing and we know that you will love it too! Check out some of our highlights below!
