A New Mexican Restaurant & Tequila Bar Come to the Poconos

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions, home of the largest indoor waterpark in the Poconos, recently unveiled Cinco Niños, a modern Mexican restaurant and tequila bar. Located in the resort’s lobby, this exciting new eatery welcomes resort guests and the public.

Cinco Niños serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks in a fun, festive atmosphere. The menu is filled with fresh takes on traditional dishes—perfect for embracing your inner foodie. The kitchen proudly makes everything from scratch.

The Mexican shrimp cocktail has a refreshing, ceviche-like flavor.

“For breakfast, we have the El Grande cinnamon roll, which is a house-made cinnamon roll that we do with a sweet syrup on top,” explained Executive Chef Greg Martin. “People love it. It’s for three to five people. It’s kind of a fun thing, like if you see the table next to you get it, you’re going to get it.”

The carne asada is another signature dish.

“I guess I’m biased because that’s my favorite,” said Martin. “It’s skirt steak. We season it, we marinate it overnight, we bring it out and we grill it. Then, it’s finished with chimichurri.”

Grilled steak tacos come topped with cilantro chimichurri, guacamole, queso fresco and blistered tomato.

The mixed grill is a great way to try a little bit of everything. It includes an elaborate spread of grilled skirt steak, roasted guajillo shrimp and achiote chicken. Other favorites on the menu include quesadillas, enchiladas, fajitas, tacos and more.

“The other thing that makes it really special is the bar. It’s very bar-centric,” said Martin. “We have the largest amount of different tequilas and mezcals on the mountain now, so we’re very, very excited about that.”

The margaritas are a favorite at the bar.

The bar serves a refreshing lineup of margaritas, from classic drinks to creative flavors like prickly pear and chili mango. Craft cocktails, beer, wine, cider, seltzers and more round out the impressive drink menu.

Last but not least, you can’t leave without trying the dessert. Cinco Niños offers delicious sweets like house-made churros and Oreo tacos, just to name a few.

Warm, sugary churros are the perfect way to finish a meal.

While most people know Kalahari for their indoor waterpark, the resort is also a destination for world-class dining. In addition to Cinco Niños, the resort boasts on-site restaurants like Double Cut Steak House, Sortino’s Italian Kitchen and B-Lux Grill & Bar.

Plan your visit to Kalahari, and make sure to stop by Cinco Niños. Hours and menus are available on their website.
