The Endless Mountains Trail in Montrose, PA is a 10-mile recreational trail following a former railroad corridor to Alford. This route once served as a branch of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad. Today, it offers outdoor recreation with strong historical character and scenic surroundings.
The trail supports hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing, depending on conditions. Access begins on Locust Street in Montrose. From there, the trail crosses Grow Avenue near the Montrose Country Club. It continues through Bridgewater Township, running parallel to PA-706 toward the Heart Lake area. After crossing Rose Road, the route turns south alongside an active railroad line toward Alford.
The Rail-Trail Council of NEPA is working to preserve and restore the trail. Some sections remain rough and uneven. Mountain bikes are recommended for cyclists due to surface conditions. Visitors should plan carefully and expect varying terrain along the route.
