Winter

With 7 ski resorts throughout NEPA’s Pocono Mountains and Endless Mountains, we’re usually good for a few months of shredding. Many of our local, state & national parks are still open for business, which means a whole season of snowy, scenic hikes and maybe even a little ice fishing. In between sledding on snow days, polar plunges, charming ice festivals and dining out in our little igloos, it’s safe to say old man winter just can’t slow us down.

NEPA’s frosted forests are quite a sight to behold. From shimmering icicles and bright, snow-packed trails to ice-covered lakes and waterfalls seemingly frozen in time, other seasons are hardly a match for winter’s picturesque beauty.

And, in NEPA, bundling up and embarking on one of these photo-worthy excursions is a lot easier than you think. Our 18 state parks along with many nature preserves and state forests offer countless options for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and in some places even snowmobiling.

Ok, fine. Sometimes, during the winter, we also like to cozy up next to a fire, plunk down into a hot tub, or even float down the lazy river. It can’t be all about fun on the slopes and trails. Everyone deserves a little pampering every now and then.

At so many of NEPA’s amazing resorts, that’s specifically what winter is all about. Book a classic, romantic couple’s getaway. Load up the whole family for a weekend at the indoor waterpark. Or, go solo and treat yourself to some “me time” with a spa sneak-away.
