Valley In Motion | Health & Community Connection in Mayfield
Valley In Motion (VIM) in Mayfield, PA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving quality of life across the Lackawanna Valley. Through wellness-focused programs and vibrant public space projects, VIM helps communities become healthier, more active and more connected. The organization believes strong neighborhoods grow when people have welcoming places to gather, move and feel proud of where they live. By working with municipalities, civic groups and fellow nonprofits, VIM strengthens NEPA through collaboration and shared purpose.
Blue Zones & Lifelong Wellbeing
Valley In Motion supports healthier living through its efforts to establish local Blue Zones. Inspired by regions around the world known for longevity, these initiatives encourage habits like walking more, eating well and building meaningful social ties. VIM partners with local residents and organizations to create environments where wellbeing becomes part of everyday life.
Outdoor Recreation & Public Spaces
VIM promotes outdoor activity by helping communities develop trails, playgrounds and inviting green spaces. Their Outdoor Towns projects assist municipalities in becoming fun, walkable destinations for recreation. Murals and placemaking initiatives also celebrate local heritage while encouraging civic pride.
Events That Bring People Together
Valley In Motion activates public spaces through programs like a weekly walking club, National Walk to a Park Day and events at the historic Scranton Iron Furnaces. Each May, VIM also hosts The Office 5K, drawing participants from around the country and beyond.
