Sunday, March 22, 2026 | 11:00 AM
The WVS Winter’s End 4.5 Mile Run at Penn State Wilkes-Barre in Dallas begins on Sunday, March 22 at 11 AM. This long-running Wyoming Valley Striders tradition marks the start of the club’s yearlong 50th anniversary celebration and welcomes runners to a scenic 4.5 mile route through rolling hills near campus.
All participants must pre register online, as race day registration is not offered. Packet pickup opens at 9:30 AM in the campus Commons. The first 200 entrants receive a commemorative Frank Shorter reversible winter running hat created for the 50th anniversary. The race is chip timed and follows a well loved course used annually for the Winter’s End event.
Awards include 50th anniversary medals for the top male and female overall, along with awards for the top three in each age division. Safety guidelines prohibit strollers and animals on the course. Runners may also take part in the Vince Wojnar Triple Crown series, which features three Striders races across the year with special prizes for completing all events.
This welcoming spring season opener invites both members and non members to enjoy a classic WVS race experience and celebrate decades of local running history.
