EMHR’s International Forest Day Hike | Salt Springs Park, Montrose
Saturday, March 21, 2026 | 11:00 AM
EMHR’s International Forest Day Hike takes place at Salt Springs Park in Montrose on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM, inviting the public to celebrate International Forest Day with a guided, sensory-focused hike led by the Endless Mountains Heritage Region. Participants should meet at the Wheaton House (2305 Salt Springs Rd, Montrose, PA 18801) for check-in by 11:00 AM.
This laid-back hiking program explores Salt Springs Park’s trail network, including an Eastern Hemlock grove where trees are more than 300 years old. Rather than emphasizing distance, the hike centers on slowing down and experiencing the forest through sight, sound, scent, and touch.
Participants will learn the basics of forest bathing, a practice focused on relaxation and sensory immersion in nature. The program is led by Tami Noonan, a longtime volunteer with the Friends of Salt Springs Park, and is designed to be accessible for a wide range of hiking comfort levels.
Attendees are encouraged to bring enough water for the afternoon, along with snacks or lunch as needed for the trail. Sensible footwear such as hiking boots or comfortable sneakers is recommended, and participants should dress for the weather.
The hike is free and open to the public. For planning purposes, registration is requested by Thursday, March 19, 2026.
