Mission Statement
To enhance the future of the youth of the Greater Hazleton Area through providing exercise, character development, self-discipline, confidence, structure, work ethic and friendship.
The Hazleton Area Recreation Program (HARP) is a nonprofit athletic outreach program that challenges athletes to be their best. Their 22,000-square-foot facility includes a gym, indoor turf fields and batting cages. They promote the physical and mental benefits of fitness for youth and adults in the Greater Hazleton area.
HARP began in 2014 as the Hazleton Boxing Club, a boxing group for at-risk youth. Since then, they have expanded their program offerings and age groups. Boxing remains popular, but they also offer strength training and preventative injury assessments. The Guided Discovery Program provides an after-school program and fun games for kids ages 6-12.
HARP provides a safe, fun environment where people can grow stronger in body and character. Generous donations and dedicated volunteers help keep their programs alive.
