Mission Statement
Ronald McDonald House of Scranton | Comfort & care for families in Scranton
The Ronald McDonald House of Scranton is a nonprofit organization that provides a free “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children. For more than 30 years, the house has welcomed families with children receiving treatment at area hospitals, offering a private and supportive space to rest, recharge, and remain close to care in Scranton, PA.
Home-Like Support During Hospital Stays
Guests at the Ronald McDonald House have access to laundry facilities, transportation services, and home-cooked meals, all in a comforting, residential setting. The goal is to reduce the stress and financial burden families face during a medical crisis, while helping them regain a sense of normalcy during uncertain times.
Expanding Comfort Through Family Rooms
To reach even more families, the organization operates Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in four local hospitals. These rooms, located just steps from a child’s bedside, include a cozy living space, kitchenette, and inviting furnishings. They offer parents and siblings a peaceful place to take a break, enjoy a meal, and find comfort without leaving the hospital.
Ronald McDonald House of Scranton continues to serve with compassion, helping families stay strong, supported, and together during their most challenging moments.
