MyCIL Center for Independent Living | Empowering independence in Scranton
MyCIL Center for Independent Living in Scranton helps people with disabilities achieve greater independence through services, advocacy, and community education. Since 1988, this nonprofit has provided support across ten counties in Northeastern PA. Their work includes the five federally defined independent living services as well as ACES$, a financial management program operating in five states. With a client-first focus, MyCIL ensures individuals have both choice and control over their lives.
Core Services
MyCIL provides advocacy, skills training, peer mentoring, information and referral, and transitional services. Through ACES$, they deliver participant-directed payroll management solutions, making them the largest nonprofit FMS provider in the country. Their goal is to empower people with disabilities to define independence for themselves.
Community Impact
Beyond direct services, MyCIL leads awareness and advocacy training programs to reduce barriers in the community. These efforts educate the public, challenge misconceptions, and promote inclusive environments. By breaking down physical and social barriers, MyCIL creates lasting change for people with disabilities.
