Our goal is to increase community awareness of the enjoyment and benefits cycling can provide while promoting and encouraging safe cycling as a healthy, fun sport and means of transportation.
The Anthracite Bicycle Coalition is a nonprofit in Scranton that encourages safe cycling in NEPA. This group is for anyone who loves bikes, wants to get into biking or simply wants to share their passion for cycling with others.
The group hosts an ever-expanding lineup of programs like group rides, training sessions, trail development and maintenance, safety events and more. Some of their annual events include the Cranksgiving Food Drive and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Ride.
The Anthracite Bicycle Coalition also runs the NEPA Cycle Kitchen, a bike cooperative that provides simple bike repairs, a bike recycling program and more. Their inventory of used bicycles provides affordable options for all ages.
The group is always welcoming new members. Visit their website for a list of upcoming events. Programs are often donation-based. You can also make a donation to help provide bicycles and repairs for kids and adults in need.
