Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Pennsylvania began in Luzerne County in 1974. Since that time services have been offered in Wyoming, Columbia, Monroe, and Carbon Counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Annually, the program matches over 500 youth in a variety of services.

Since its inception in 1974, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Pennsylvania has strived to provide high quality mentoring services to the children and families of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Funding for Big Brothers Big Sisters programs is provided through the various United Ways, state or federal grants, private donations and fund-raising efforts and program development.
